Frequently Asked Questions

How many miles do you on a ride?
We usually do, between 15 miles to 35 miles on a day ride, with third to half of this is off road.

Where do you meet?
Usually at a carpark.

What type of bike should I come on?
Some members use mountain bikes, some use touring bikes.

What do I need to bring on the ride?
Would you please bring lunch, drink, two spare inner tubes plus pump, toolkit, lights that work, spare warm clothing and waterproofs.

What time do you get back at?
We usually try get back to the start before six o’ clock but it may be later in the summer months.

Will I be able to keep up?
Yes, we usually go at the speed of the slowest rider and yes we also get off the bike and walk up steep hills.

What the different between a mountain bike club and Off-road cycling touring club?
The main different is we get off and walk. We also do not try to ride all off road parts of the ride like most mountain bikers do.

How many members come on a ride?
We usually get 3 to 12 members out on a ride.

Who leads the rides?
Usually the area secretary.

Do you have many weekend away?
The group usually meets up with other groups for camping and youth hostel weekends through out the year.
