25th September 2005 Lancashire Group’s Tour of Morecambe and Lancaster
After riding up from Halton along the Lune cycle track, I met ten other members of the Fellowship at Glasson Dock for the Lancashire Group monthly Sunday ride. Brian Parkinson was soon leading us back up the River Lune along the Cycle Track and back towards Lancaster, with tail wind behind us we soon on New Quay Road, then on to St George Quay, the after passing old Warehouses which are posh flats now and the Maritime Museum which is worth a visit. We stop under one rail archways to shelter from a heavy shower and for everyone to catch up before heading over the Millennium Bridge (which Lancaster City Council has won award for). We soon heading along the cycle path into Morecambe, at the end of the cycle path we cross over the A5105 and headed to end of the stone jetty for morning coffee at the end of jetty.
After morning coffee we headed along the prom and then the A5105 into Hest Bank for lunch on the shore. After lunch we followed the shore around to Red Bank Farm then followed St Michael's Lane into Bolton-le-Sands. We then follow The Nook, then Ancliffe Lane and then Green Lane into Lancaster, where we joined the cycle path along the Lancaster canal, which we followed through to Aldcliffe Road and then continue into Aldcliffe where we stop at Peter Kenner new home for afternoon tea.
Afterward the rest of party headed back to their cars at Glasson Dock along cycle path and I headed back along cycle path, back to Halton.
