Brian Parkinson on the Stile End track looking down into Longsleddale.
May 1: Skeggles Water
After making way out of Kendal along the cycle path, we headed up the west side of the Kent Valley through the villages of  Burnside and Bowston, then along Winter Lane before joining the cycle path along side the A591 for short period time before turning off  heading through the lanes for Staveley and morning coffee at Wilf’s.
After morning coffee we headed up the Kentmere Valley and soon pasting through the hamlet of Green Quarter. Then we join our first track of  the day and followed Low Lane through to Hallow Bank, due to the low cloud levels we decide to give the Nan Bield and Gatescarth Passes a miss and leave it for another day. So we headed back along the tarmac for short distance down the valley before turning on to the Stile End to Sadgill track. We headed up the track, has we got towards the summit, the sun came out, we carry along the track to gate which you see in the photo above, where we stop for lunch, where Brian left us to head back down Longsleddale back to Kendal has he back home early.
After lunch we headed up the Skeggles Water track, then drop down to Staveley for afternoon tea at Wilf’s, then follow the lanes back to Kendal.
