Saturday 5th to 6th September 2009: The ride that didn’t pass go, a early morning at work and a ride to Barbondale.

If  was Final  Day at work and this was what 6.30am look like on Saturday Morning.

I had easy job of  cutting the greens which takes about three hours to do!

I f you ever wonder how the hole is change on golf green this is how we do it!

I finally made it to the start of the ride this what greet us a lot of rain, I also must apologize to John for missing him at the start and if you not been before on South Lakes Group please e-mail or phone me to let me known you  coming!

Peter was late getting to the start , after chatting for few mintues and due to weather conditions we decide to head to cafe at Farfield Mill Art & Hertiage Centre and go for ride the next day.

The view outside the cafe looking down to Garsdale Bridge.

Another early morning at work doing the check around the course before go cycling and yes that the mountains of the Lake District in the background.

A view from the 5th Green looking back to the 5th Tee.

The berries of the Guelder-rose or Viburnum opulus.

Seed heads in the rough.

A close up of Lichen growing on a tree.

The leaves on Horse-chestnut starting to turn for Autumn, its takes about two hours to do the check around at work moving things like tee markers, checking bunkers for rabbit damage, emptying  the course bins before heading for home.

I met up with Peter, James and Barrie at Devil’s Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale at 11.30am  after riding to the start, this photo is of us following a bridleway up to High Casterton on our way to the tearoom at Kirkby Lonsdale Station.

Barn door on the Long Level heading towards the tearoom.

The cake photo at the tearoom , I can report that our national secretary Peter did give Rough-Stuff  Journal to couple who cycling back home to High Bentham, was this something to do being on the front cover of the Journal

We did enough chatting in the tearoom so we had to get back on the bikes, this is view of the Lune Valley as we cyclying up to Barbondale.

We stop for some lunch at the side of the road in Barbondale we saw cyclists come down Barbondale doing  the Northern Dales Audax.

Chatting!

Following the bridleway down to Barbon.

Yes we do some exploring on these rides, this track did look interesting on the map put we decide not to ford Barbon  Beck but to retrace our steps back to the A683. We headed short distance on the A683 before heading  down Scalebar Lane and then Lowfields Lane back to A683 for about mile before following the lanes through Casterton and High Casterton back to start at Devil’s Bridge where we headed our different ways for home.
