Sunday 16th August: A ride to summit of Gatescarth Pass.

This photo was taken on the 18th Green at work just after 6am , I  had another 16 greens to cut before getting to the start of the ride at Kendal, for those of you who like to know its takes three people golf course for competiton, one to cut the greens and two to change the holes and rake the bunkers.

Cake photo at Wilf’s cafe in Staveley.

The climb up Lowfield Lane to Green Quarter in the Kentmere Valley.

Ridding along the Public Way from Stile End to Sadgill.

Looking at the view down in Longsleddale.

James and Peter on the Public Way above Sadgill.

The start of the track over Gatescarth Pass.

Half way up the track in Brownhowe Bottom  and its started to rain!

Barrie and James at our wet lunch stop just below the summit of Gatescarth Pass.

The lunch time view looking down into the Haweswater Valley.

Its not often you have to eat lunch in the rain!

Due to the weather conditions we decide to head back down into Longsleddale and not do the plan ride going over Nan Bield Pass.

The pack lunch.

Peter heading  down the track into Longsleddale.

Back down in the valley.

This is interesting garage we stop to look at!

Note that its 251 miles to London from this garage in Longsleddale.

138 miles to Edinburgh and 257 miles Yarmouth! The things you see on a ride!

This house was up for sale near Garnett Bridge.
